Could the Democrats please wake up ?

Recommended Posts

A minority aside I think most Atomicans are somewhat horrified, for want of a better word, at the mess Trump is making of America and by extension the world to a degree.

However the best way to get rid of the moron is to beat him at the elections, which has to be done by a Democrat - the trouble is there are too many of them trying to get the guernsey.

The latest round of debates hardly clarified the situation, it seems Winfrey's self-help guru did rather well...

Several of these hopefuls need to get out of the way and then get strongly behind whomever they select or we are in for another four years of Trump - I'm unconvinced the planet can survive that...

Personally I think Harris has the clearest shot, Sanders is just too old and Biden is a has been, new blood is needed.

But, I'm not an American...

One thing is becoming clear, looking from the outside most people do not understand the American electoral process, it is becoming apparent that neither do most Americans....

I sincerely hope you are wrong TMFP - he should never have won in the first place but the Dems ran the wrong candidate - treated him as a joke - they overlooked the stupidity of the American voting public.

How the so-called leader of the free world can be be a consistently lying often incoherent moron is just beyond me.

Cheers

calling the voters stupid is also a mistake of the left

It's simple. The mere fact that the Dems. can't organise a winning strategy is proof of the fact they are certainly less than capable of running a Country.

Their total self-serving interests were stunningly obvious with their blind belief that Hitlery was gonna win back in 2016. That sorta mentality is not one really open or prone to wanting to learn from their mistakes 🙂

I've not been closely following things but Sanders is a joke.

Wanting to scrap private health care and umbrella everyone under some world's best public system.  I don't think so.

And throw in universal free child care as well?

Where's the funding coming from?  They can't even provide what they have now without running their huge defecit.

Hmm.

The Democrats made a BIG mistake in running Hilary, no doubt about that and the country is paying for it - big time.

At the moment I'm more inclined to believe that they are so intent upon getting the best possible candidate that a few too many have put their hand up because they are utterly determined to get it right this time.

I do agree Ry, Sanders is far too far to the left to have a hope either of winning or of getting his plans passed. He's passionate and in many ways a very, very honest politician - in America that almost guarantees you cannot win.

I think Biden could well win, but unfortunately I also think he would be a lack-lustre President.

Harris has an uphill battle not least just by being female but she is damned impressive. Interestingly I came across a statistic a few weeks ago that suggested running a woman was a very good idea because historically there is a low turnout of female voters in America, which of itself is depressing given how hard the country fought to get that equality. The suggestion was that there would be a higher turnout to vote for a female by females.

I don't especially care so long as they pick a winner and get rid of that lying fool before he does any more damage.

Cheers

Where do you think it'll come from?  They'll introduce a medicare levy type tax to replace what people there currently pay towards private insurance.  And they pay a lot towards private insurance.

So they combined Obama and Bush and there ya go.

Precisely. The left’s all about science (and good on them).

Yet no-one on the left bats an eyelid when statistics reveal that in a given calendar year x (where x is a number) of men have given birth.

Don’t get me wrong. The American right are batshit crazy. But when the level of insanity is a choice between “god, guns and country” vs “there’s 61+ genders and you can get sued if you insist a Two-Spirit Trans-Mermaid Butch Femme is actually a bloke with mental issues” - guess who the sensible centre choose?

The other problem is that craziness on the right has been a given for decades.

Craziness on the left has become a problem in the last decade and as they disappear up their own assholes trying to find the holy grail of identity politics, they leave traditional voters behind and who hoovers them up?

I watched both sets of both debates. It was fucken horrifying. More cringeworthy than “Grab ‘em by the pussy” combined with “I’ve got a bigger button”.

They’re all trying to outdo each other on how much free stuff they’ll give to illegals while acknowledging their white privilege and vowing to tip trillions into healthcare, education and climate change. Like great goals, guys. Massive respect. But FFS, you don’t get there via any form of socialism or higher taxes. You just don’t.

And then you’ve got the stupid war. Harris tries to tear down Biden for working with racists in the 1970s. Well so did fucken Lincoln! Harris imprisoned 1500 marijuana users. Gets roaster by Gabbard. Then Gabbard gets a serve from Harris’s people for meeting Assad. And then you’ve got Bernie who just seems like a typical old Jewish grandad who has never gotten over the injustice of life. And Warren who parrots the same stuff but at least has the brain cells to realise that calling yourself a socialists wins you absolutely fucken nothing.

In the meantime every Democrat on that stage is yelling “Racist!” at Trump while cultivating ties with racists Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan to win token support from the black community of key battleground states.

It’s a fucken disaster. If Trump doesn’t beat these guys in 2020, America deserves them.

That woman is dead set fucken crazy.

I don’t get it what is wrong with the Jewish candidates in this election. One’s a fucken socialist. How a Jew remains a socialist in 2019 is beyond me.

May as well join the fucken Nazi party while you’re at it.

The only one who seems reasonably sane (by the standards of the crazy Democrat left-swing) is Michael Bennet but he’s polling at like 1-2% so won’t last long.

Here’s what I think will happen.

”Get woke, go broke”.

IE. the Democrat field will narrow to a bunch of old people with alabaster white skin. Sanders, Warren, Biden.

And Biden will probably win the nomination.

I intended to watch them all. A horror moment is just that a moment. But with trying to watch them, the horror became a sadness that if I was not strong could have sent me over the abyss into deep depression. I chose my sanity and so did not complete the viewing

They had a blue about the difference between dealing with climate change as a “climate crisis” or a “first priority”.

And then had a go at Biden for saying he was going to work coal out of the energy system by 2030 while spending $400b on technology to adapt to changing climate and deliver new mitigation strategies. Like fuck me. If I was a pro-wrestler I would’ve taken a steel chair to everyone on that stage except Yang and Biden.

Yang gets spared because he clearly stated that no matter what America does - it is responsible for only 15% of global emissions and dropping - in real terms its barely growing (or decreasing slowly), but it’s dropping fast because China’s coal use is expanding at a huge rate. Climate change is basically “a China problem”.

Anyone who doesn’t understand that either has their head so far up their ass they can’t see, or they’re a Democratic presidential candidate. But I repeat myself.

I swear to god it’s like Thor came down from Asgard with his Hammer of Socialism and knocked them all stupid.

These idiots are racing straight at the most narrow part of their electorate which is going to vote for them anyway, while ignoring the mainstream that they actually need.

It’d be like the Labor Party here trying to win an election with an unpopular leader while arguing for a set of policies no-one outside of Greens voters in Newtown actually likes!

Oh hang on...

I wish you were not correct but unfortunately I agree with you, hence the title of this thread.

At the moment I think Biden has the best shot but I'd still prefer Harris.

It's not what people may or may not have done in the past that matters it is what they plan for the future - really speaking the debates gave them no great chance to elaborate on that because they were constantly side-tracked. The entire circus was an utter debacle.

God help America...

Cheers

So you mean it's just likw how the GOP primaries went, last time, with everyone racing to a niche on the extremes?

I watched the GOP primaries.

It was not anywhere near this bad.

I don't see how these primaries are healthy for a party. At least not the way they are done. Tearing down another person in your party who may well be the candidate you need to later endorse just seems crazy.

It's the American way, claw your way to the top by whatever means.

The Democrats were never this bad, needs a strong personality to whip them into line - thus far there simply isn't one.

Time is running out for them to make a strong bid.

Cheers

And apart from Yang, Biden and Williamson - they’re all basically clones of each other.

Competing for Americans’ votes on the basis of {gender, skin colour, age} (pick your favourite combination).

I do not regard Harris as a clone, but in the debates she had trouble getting a word in edgewise.

Some of the more interesting (Non contending) Dems think running a woman might work - didn't last time, but Hilary was only a token woman in reality.

We wait to see whom they run...

Cheers

Harris is a clone. What is a signature position or policy of hers that isn’t identical to at least 3/4ths of the contenders?

I thought she had something. Then I watched the second debate and am utterly convinced that other than having a whack at Biden for talking to segregationists in a segregationist era, nothing else exists.

No.

She never had the chance to expand upon her beliefs in the circus.

She has promise but whether she can mature and advertise enough in time...NFI.

I tend to agree, it's probably going to be Biden/Trump - I really hope not, just two wannabe has beens with one falling into a presidency he probably did not want-but now in the full glare of publicity, if he loses, he really could go to jail, and one who is really just a wannabe.

Wake up America.

All I can say....

Cheers

Are you not watching anything beyond the debates?

Some of the democrats running have signature policies or policies only shared by a very few. Harris has no stand-out.

She may be one of the best of the generics. That’s the best she’s got.

Hmm.

I've been trusting that she is keeping her powder dry.

The entire so-called democratic process of U.S politics drives me a little crazy  🙂

No, I think she can get out in front, depends if there is enough time....

Cheers
