Is there any way I can ever unlearn this piece of information?

Best to be forewarned....................I thought as an old rower, you might have learned this earlier!

Supposedly the closest fires to me are at near Braidwood and Tumut, but it's chocka with smoke and it smells very fresh and close.

OK here. It has gone south west for now. But Thursday is meant to be 38 dry and blowing back this way. I washed the car yesterday and it had ash all over it this morning.

No restrictions here yet but we're not far away. Mangrove dam is at 53% and restrictions start at 50%.

If the fire gets anywhere near the M1 we're going for a trip away from here.

yeah, in these conditions i am utterly appalled that the government sticks to a guideline when we know water is scarce

sydney dragged its heels and we're only recently  at stage 2 when it's clear that greater prudence with supplies will allow some safety margin if things don't change soon-ish

https://www.waternsw.com.au/supply/Greater-Sydney/greater-sydneys-dam-levels

sydney is used 0.5% of storage last week - with the hottest part of the year to come

if it continues at even the current rate it will need to rain a lot some time in the next year of we will be drinking mud, and that's not counting all the debris from the burnt surrounds being washed into the supply if there is a torrential drought breaker

faffing with level 2 is as wishful as the federal budget looking to go into meaningful surplus
