Looks like the controlled distribution of the virus has gone according to plan and now they just have to manage the rate at which it spreads so that the health system can keep up well enough that they can save the majority of people that get seriously ill from it.

Then once the hospitals start to catch up again they can open everything back up and start selling off whatever is left (like leftover toilet paper) to get the economy back on track.

The natives here in the NT have no idea about social distancing and you wonder why the virus could wipe them out ...

To go right back to the origins of this thread there still seems to be considerable debate over if the Covid Virus was a lab escapee in Wuhan:

https://thebulletin.org/2020/03/experts-know-the-new-coronavirus-is-not-a-bioweapon-they-disagree-on-whether-it-could-have-leaked-from-a-research-lab/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=ThursdayNewsletter03262020&utm_content=DisruptiveTechnology_CoronavirusLab_03232020#

In the end of course it doesn't matter but doing our best to not have a repeat if it is the case does - next time it could be something far more deadly.

Cheers

Well China might be spreading this idea to divert the blame to America because it's inept at managing it's biolabs.

COVID-19 is a nothing virus ... compared to ...

https://www.dcreport.org/2019/12/04/the-army-quietly-re-opens-its-infamous-germ-warfare-lab/

Research at a secretive Army germ warfare lab about 50 miles from Washington, D.C. that works with tularemia, which spreads more easily than anthrax, has been partially restarted after a federal inspection found two failures in containing unnamed germs or toxins.

There's a pandemic the SA LNP government still want to destroy peoples homes to widen roads ... fuckwits

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-27/sa-government-battens-down-on-demolitions-despite-coronavirus/12094322

It's a big hobby horse with this government, they made a huge mess for ages near me until recently and didn't really solve the issue and are doing the same on South Road. Adelaide does have a number of dodgy intersections but most of them could be fixed easier with lights.

That intersection is far from being the worst of them.

🙂

To be fair that area is endemic with salt damp so the houses are very likely in a very poor state of repair but that is somewhat beside the point in the current situation.

for me its mostly about the ramifications for the progression of the pandemic as a whole.  the USA finally waking up cant happen soon enough.  seems to me that could be the final linchpin in bringing all the rogue elements in the anglosphere still dragging their heels re social distancing measures etc, to get serious!

but sure, there's also a degree of glee over just desserts for an apathetic and ignorant* populace who should choose their news sources and leaders more carefully.  not that this will definitely tank Trump, but theres satisfaction in thinking that in the long term this will be good for the political health of the country.  in the era of Trump, democrats have been learning that real change has to come from the grass roots level.  take the voter turn out in the mid-terms, and even though Biden (yuck) is more of the same in so many ways, the Democrats have been fundamentally altered.  i expect and hope that if Trump does lose, that more Reps will be motivated to drain the swamp as it were more effectively next time, from the ground up, rather than casually putting their faith in the lip service of a sociopathic clown.

*even the "left-leaning media" has hardly seen the writing on the wall for well over a month.  its pathetic.  the USA has 1/4 the population and density of China but more infections — the gravity of which, not even your average doubting Thomas concerned about the truth of China's reporting can continue to brush aside with a straight face.

Don't know how you can say the Democrats have Learnt anything   ...lol

The Republicans as a Party did not want him either. He was not a Politician 😉 there was nothing too casual about where they put their faith.

Their media over there is just as rampant as our media

of course the Rep establishment didnt want him.  the people wanted him, because he knew what they wanted to hear, and they took a gamble on believing him.  the Dem establishment has not changed much at all, but ordinary people have made a dent in it out of renewed interest in involvement.  mostly futile, but its a start.

their media is way more partisan and on the take than ours, even if we're trying our best to emulate them.  and even if you dont buy that, dont forget that alongside the billion$ of corrupting influences, a sizeable proportion of the population the US media serves couldnt find our country on a map...

A troublingly large proportion of them can't find their own country on a map!

Ain't that the truth... I don't do FB but I do visit Quora, sometimes I read a post and have no better idea of what the person was talking about at the end than I did at the beginning.

Sure, some of them are for example Indians, but it is amazing how many Americans cannot convey an idea in words. As for punctuation, forget it.

Some countries tried complete lockdowns, people ran out of food because they couldn't buy food - and then there were riots. So people were allowed out to buy food.
