Better Video Cable Choice

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I have a laptop that has s-video out and d-sub out that can be used to connect to an external video source. The source of choice is a 76 cm CRT that can support 1080i resolutions. Now the Tv does not have any pc connection or hdmi options. I am thinking the best option is the component input (which is used for hdtv) but I am unable to find a cable that might be able to accommodate this.

Do they exist? Like a d-sub to component output? Will they allow better display on the screen they s-video(laptop) to RCA (tv)? I use the later setup at the moment and it is extremely blurry for text etc, but is fairly suitable for watching movies.

Any help would be great.

Micky.

Such devices do exist, have a look at avermedia's selection:

The main problem with these kinds of devices is resolution support support, they generally bottom out at around 1600x1200 with 1280x1024 and 1024x768 being typical, whilst these are improvements over s-video, they still aren't 1080i. You may be able to find one that goes up that high, but be warned that it may set you back a considerable amount of money.

cheers
