Xbox 360 Audio through computer speakers

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to pipe audio from the xbox through my PC and out of the speakers connected to the PC. The motherboard is the Gigabyte 8IPE1000 Pro2 which has an onboard S/PDIF In/Out, or so it says. For the life of me I can't get it to accept the optical signal coming out of the xbox. So I thought I would turn to you guys.

Is this even possible? I'm trying it as I have heard of people doing it using their microphone port but I don't want to go out and get an RCA to 3.5mm stereo adapter.

Currently: I have an optical cable running from the xbox 360 optical port to my motherboard optical port. It doesn't seem to recognise it as an optical signal coming in.

The configuration utility is the "AC97 audio configuration" program.

Cheers
