acceptable SNR and attenuation values

Recommended Posts

i tried searching for this question, but didnt find an answer, and the forum search appears to be a little bit fucked here, so please forgive if this is a done to death question.

basically, what is an acceptable range of values for Signal Noise Ratio and Line Attenuation on my modem for adsl2+

i dont know how far it is to the exchange

regards in advance

This might help you. It's a calculator that uses your Attenuation to calculate possible ADSL1 and 2 speeds:

This is a graph of speeds vs distance:

kind regards scootre, that was very helpful

Attenuation (dB) you should be getting a value of about 35 for a average distance/connection from the exchange.

note that your Attenuation (dB) is Zero at the exchange. an ADSL/BDSL line will fall over at about 55dB.

also very helpful :)

thanks

im currently getting about ...

Parameters
								Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin 10.5 dB 9.5 dB
Line Attenuation 33.0 dB 23.0 dB
CRC Errors 0 0
Latency Unknown Unknown

Upstream 977000
Downstream 6847100

Don't go saying scary shit like that :-p
