Amplifier advice

Recommended Posts

I am looking at buying an amp for all my home audio and video needs. What I would like to connect is:

Xbox 360 via component or HDMI

Foxtel HD via component or HDMI (pref HDMI)

Desktop PC via HDMI

And a Logitech Z5500 via either digital input or standard 3x 2.5m jacks

Amp must have:

5.1 surround sound support with upscale to 1080P.

I have:

A Plasma that can handle HD. it has 2x AV, 2x component and 1x HDMI.

I have looked around on the web and found the following:

Would like to pay no more than $500

Thanks in advance.

ive got the onkyo SR-674 7.1 amp with my HTPC and ps3 both hooked up in HDMI.. Owned a couple onkyos and the sound quality is great! Look for an onkyo with more HDMI inputs and it would last you quite awhile because they're fairly reliable.

Eastwood Hifi currently have Cambridge Audio Azur 340R amps on sale for $500, not sure that it does 1080P upscaling but it would be a fairly decent quality amp for the price.

[Edit] As Holdenkicks said above, you won't be able to hook up the Z5500's as they have an amp built in
